In the year 2016, this pop music icon died. And, Generation X remembers him as a strong musical influence on their culture. Eventually, he got included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. That song about Major Tom, yes I’m talking about David Robert Jones, popularly known as David Bowie. I’m no fan, but I know his contribution to the music industry. The first time I saw David Bowie is in the movie Labyrinth that starred the beautiful Jennifer Connely. When you realize the main villain, Jareth the Goblin King is David Bowie. His strong presence and aura made the story compelling. Everything about him is unique creativity exclusive only to him. Also, he paints besides creating music. The visual and sound is an expression of his creativity that inspires others.

Inspiration in art is never too far and not far behind. Even in the fashion industry, a style never gets old, only reborn. Yet, music can influence fashion like this collection inspired by David Bowie’s song “Space Oddity” or his album “ The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.”

David Bowie’s music inspires the collection of Dylan Gallaza in character and style. The Goblin King walks in Space Oddity music in an English trench coat styled with united colors, and a sea urchin spine covers the face of the model. Everything in it is Generation X style for the Millennials. The 1980s checkered pattern seen inside from the top down to the pants with strips of primary colors. Then, that classic white shoes to match its colorful look gives an overall finesse style.

Equally, the other outfits remember Ziggy Stardust, the alter ego of David Bowie. The messenger from outer space delivers an extraterrestrial message in a song interpretation. The white represents the god messenger Mercury, the same colors David Bowie uses. Clothes styled in a little punk fresh teenager of the early Generation X gives an out beat look. The headset represents a musical inspiration. You look closely enough that thunderbolt is Ziggy, a zigzag, and the yellow color is stardust. The look brings a nostalgic feeling familiar to David Bowie and the generation of the late 1970s to 1980s.

Even though this iconic musical figure passed away two years ago, his contribution is unforgotten. His music is heard in airwaves and used in the movies like Atomic Blonde and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. Also, the fashion industry echoes his style. And, the fashion collection of Dylan Gallaza howls David Bowie.
